VENTURA, California – District Attorney Gregory D. Totten announced today that Anthony Wilfred Diaz (DOB 06/23/81), of Las Vegas, Nevada, was sentenced following a guilty plea to charges of attempted human trafficking, pimping, and possession of a firearm by a felon. Two victims were alleged in the complaint.

VENTURA, California – District Attorney Gregory D. Totten announced today that David Howard Syner (DOB 08/09/61), of Los Angeles, was charged with 15 counts of felony grand theft and a special allegation that he stole more $500,000 from a local doctor.

Totten announced today that on August 31, 2020, a jury found Vidal Fregoso (DOB 11/04/69), of Camarillo, guilty of committing a hate crime against Luther Swayne, a 72-year-old African American. The jury also found Fregoso guilty of additional charges of committing an attempted vandalism and attempted theft. Fregoso faces up to one-year confinement in the Ventura County jail.

VENTURA, California – District Attorney Gregory D. Totten announced today that Judge Henry Walsh issued a preliminary injunction against BSF Fitness (BSF), a gym located in the city of Ventura. The injunction requires BSF to comply with state and local health orders currently prohibiting indoor operations by gyms and fitness centers. The District Attorney’s Office Consumer and Environmental Protection Unit previously filed a civil complaint against BSF alleging unfair business practices for BSF’s ongoing operations while other similar businesses in Ventura County either ceased or modified their operations in compliance with state and local health orders imposed in an attempt to prevent or slow the spread of COVID-19.

VENTURA, California – District Attorney Gregory D. Totten announced today that Nathaniel Newell Hunnicutt (DOB 9/13/81), of Columbus, Ohio, was sentenced after pleading guilty to one felony count of grand theft.

VENTURA, California – District Attorney Gregory D. Totten announced today that Christian Ornelas (DOB 12/27/85), of Oxnard, was sentenced to two years in state prison for distributing and possessing child sexual abuse material (CSAM). On August 4, 2020, Ornelas pled guilty to one count of felony distribution of obscene child pornography and one count of felony possession of more than 600 images of child pornography.
