    District Attorney Erik Nasarenko announced today that Jason Tyler Fernandes (DOB 02/11/99), of Ventura, was charged with the murder of his father, Michael Fernandes. The complaint alleges one count of murder with the special allegation of personal use of a deadly or dangerous weapon.

    VENTURA, California – District Attorney Erik Nasarenko announced today that Kyle Davis (DOB 08/16/85), of Newbury Park, pled guilty to multiple hate crime related charges, including one count of vandalism, one count of hate crime by damaging property, and one count of assault.

    VENTURA, California – District Attorney Erik Nasarenko announced today that felony elder fraud charges were filed against Katherine Mission (DOB 12/21/71), of Camarillo, Marites De Guzman (DOB 02/23/65), of Oxnard, Gerardo Maralit (DOB 06/10/53), of Oxnard, and Stephen Sawochka (DOB 07/01/63), of Camarillo.

    VENTURA, California – District Attorney Erik Nasarenko announced that Areonah Walker
    (DOB 07/29/03), of Riverside, and Terrion Phillips (DOB 10/13/03), of Los Angeles, were sentenced for their roles in a string of retail thefts. Walker was sentenced to 180 days county jail and 24 months formal felony probation. Phillips was sentenced to 270 days county jail and 24 months formal felony probation. Deputy District Attorney Gerard Eugenio had urged the court to impose 2 years 8 months incarceration for each Phillips and Walker.

    VENTURA, California – District Attorney Erik Nasarenko announced today that Jose Refugio Carbajal (DOB 11/25/66), of Camarillo, was sentenced to three years county jail. He will serve one year in custody and two years on mandatory supervision. Carbajal previously paid $1,390,985 in full restitution to the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) when he pled guilty to 10 felonies including public benefits fraud, identity theft, money laundering, and conspiracy.
