    District Attorney Erik Nasarenko announced today that Angela Marie Barretto (DOB 12/04/80), of Ventura, was sentenced to 300 days in jail and placed on probation for two years.

    VENTURA, California – In 2010, Mr. Ignacio Ixta was convicted by a jury trial of attempted murder and related felony counts arising from a December 2009 shooting. In 2020, our Conviction Integrity Unit learned that four search warrants involving one of the prosecution’s key witnesses had not been provided to our office with Mr. Ixta’s case materials.

    District Attorney Erik Nasarenko announced today that Adventist Health Physicians Network (“Adventist”), of Simi Valley, was ordered to pay $40,000 in civil penalties to the District Attorney’s Office as part of a civil privacy settlement.

    VENTURA, California – District Attorney Erik Nasarenko announced today that convictions against Ignacio Ixta, Jr. (DOB 12/20/88), of Oxnard, will be reversed. In 2010, Ixta was convicted by a jury of attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, and shooting at an inhabited dwelling. The case was investigated by the Oxnard Police Department and prosecuted by the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office.

    District Attorney Erik Nasarenko announced today that Perry Adam Lieber (DOB 04/23/89), of Santa Barbara, was ordered to pay $198,025 in victim restitution and $30,000 in criminal fines.

    (DOB 05/11/69), of Ojai, pled guilty to two counts of felony insurance fraud on March 30, 2021.

    District Attorney Erik Nasarenko announced today that Cody Washington (DOB 02/13/77), of Oxnard, pled guilty to one count of voluntary manslaughter for the unlawful killing of Corey Smith, also of Oxnard. Washington also admitted he personally used a knife during the commission of the crime.
