  • Simi Valley Man Sentenced for Child Molestation

    Simi Valley Man Sentenced for Child Molestation

    District Attorney Erik Nasarenko announced today that Phillip Allen Fleming (DOB 06/09/59), of Simi Valley, was sentenced on June 20, 2024, to 7 years 4 months state prison. Fleming previously pled guilty on May 1, 2024, to one count of felony continuous sexual abuse, and two counts of felony lewd acts upon a child. He also admitted to special allegations that the victim was under 18 years of age, the victim was vulnerable, and that he took advantage of a position of trust.

    “Thanks to the victim’s bravery in coming forward and Simi Valley Police Detective Kellyn King’s thorough investigation, this perpetrator has been brought to justice,” Deputy District Attorney Benjamin Moreno said. “With offenses dating back to 1996, this case shows that if you are a victim of child sexual abuse, California’s extended statute of limitations on child sex crimes means it may not be too late to come forward and obtain justice.”

    Georgia Man Charged with Receiving Stolen Property & Money Laundering in Real Estate Wire Fraud Scheme

    District Attorney Erik Nasarenko announced today the arrest and extradition to Ventura County of Abdoul Aziz Bah (DOB 05/31/94), also known as (aka) Richard Anderson, of Stockbridge, Georgia. Bah has been charged with three felonies, including one count of receiving stolen property, and two counts of money laundering. Bah pled not guilty at today’s arraignment.

    “We are committed to investigating real estate fraud and criminally prosecuting money laundering schemes and bogus fronts for ill-gotten gains,” said District Attorney Erik Nasarenko.

    Moorpark Man Sentenced for Murder of Brother-in-Law

    District Attorney Erik Nasarenko announced today that Elsworth Dennis Cadle (DOB 09/08/52), of Moorpark, was sentenced to 25 years to life in state prison. Cadle previously pled guilty on May 14, 2024, to the second-degree murder of his brother-in-law, Mark Milton. He also admitted to the special allegation that he personally and intentionally discharged a firearm resulting in death.

    “This was a heartbreaking incident for the family,” Supervising Senior Deputy District Attorney Melissa Suttner said. “My hope is that today’s significant sentence will provide a path for the family to begin healing.”

    Organized Retail Theft Defendants Charged Following Blitz Operation

    District Attorney Erik Nasarenko announced today that eight individuals have been charged with a variety of theft-related crimes after the successful Blitz Operation conducted by the Ventura County Organized Retail Theft Task Force. The Blitz Operation was a coordinated saturation of law enforcement personnel and resources to stop retail theft. In this case, the task force focused its efforts on the Camarillo Premium Outlets over a three-day period earlier this month. While eight people have been charged, cases against eight additional suspects remain under investigation. Two juveniles who were arrested during the Blitz Operation were cited and released.

    Oxnard Man Sentenced for Deaths of a Grandmother and Her Granddaughter

    District Attorney Erik Nasarenko announced today that Jacob Anthony Caliboso (DOB 04/25/99), of Oxnard, was sentenced on June 11, 2024, to 30 years to life in prison—the maximum sentence allowed by law—for the 2020 deaths of Elva Andrade and Nevaeh Gomez. Caliboso was previously convicted by a jury on April 30, 2024, of two counts of second-degree murder.

    Oxnard Man Charged with Murder of 17-Year-Old

    District Attorney Erik Nasarenko announced today that Jose Alberto Salazar (DOB 10/29/94), of Oxnard, has been charged with the murder of a 17-year-old juvenile. Salazar also faces charges of shooting at an occupied vehicle and felon in possession of a firearm, and an enhancement for personally and intentionally discharging a firearm causing death.

    Alnaji Pleads Not Guilty at Arraignment on Information

    Ventura County District Attorney Erik Nasarenko announced that Loay Abdel Fattah Alnaji (DOB 05/06/73), of Moorpark, pled not guilty to all charges at today’s information arraignment. Alnaji is charged with felony involuntary manslaughter, felony battery causing serious bodily injury, and the special allegation that he personally inflicted great bodily injury.

    Juveniles Found Responsible for Armed Robbery

    District Attorney Erik Nasarenko announced today that two juveniles who robbed a woman at gunpoint have been found responsible for their crimes. Both were charged with second-degree armed robbery. One of the juveniles was also charged with the special allegation that he personally used a firearm while threatening the victim. A Contest was held for juvenile defendant 1 on June 6, 2024. Judge Inumerable sustained the petition as to the armed robbery charge and found true the special allegation. Juvenile defendant 2 entered an admission to his armed robbery charge on May 15, 2024.

    “The victim in this case showed incredible bravery during the robbery and while testifying in court,” Deputy District Attorney Heather Sweatman said. “The judge’s ruling demonstrates that individuals who victimize our community will be held accountable, regardless of their age.”

  • Thousand Oaks Man Sentenced for Possession and Distribution of CSAM

    Thousand Oaks Man Sentenced for Possession and Distribution of CSAM

    The Ventura County District Attorney’s Office announced today that Bronson Schreiber (DOB 04/20/95), of Thousand Oaks, was sentenced on June 6, 2024, to 1 year 4 months state prison. Schreiber previously pled guilty on March 15, 2024, to two felony counts of possessing and distributing child sexual abuse material (CSAM). He also admitted to the special allegation that he possessed more than 600 of these images. Along with the prison sentence, Schreiber is required to be a lifetime sex offender registrant.
