THOUSAND OAKS Calif. โ The Ventura County District Attorney’s Office and California Lutheran University today announced the future home of the East County Family Justice Center will be on the campus of California Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks. The Ventura County Board of Supervisors approved the lease agreement for a building located at 26 Faculty Street on August 4, 2026, paving the way to expand critical services for victims and survivors throughout East Ventura County.

Simi Valley Man Pleads Guilty to Killing His Father
VENTURA Calif. โ Ventura County District Attorney Erik Nasarenko announced today that Gerardo Arroyo Almanza (DOB 04/23/89), of Simi Valley, has pled guilty to second-degree murder for the killing of his father, Alfredo Arroyo Sancen. Almanza also pled guilty to three counts of criminal threats against additional family members. He admitted to a prior strike offense and a special allegation for the use of a weapon. ย

Former Ventura County Employee Charged for Steering Six Figure Contracts to Wife’s Company
Ventura County District Attorney Erik Nasarenko announced today that former Ventura County Health Care Agency Compliance Officer Charles Edward Flood IV (DOB 04/13/69), of Joliet, Illinois, has been charged with two felony counts of conflict of interest. The complaint also alleges that Flood took advantage of a position of trust or confidence to commit the alleged crimes.
Flood was arrested Friday afternoon by Illinois State Troopers and will be extradited to Ventura County by the Ventura County Sheriffโs Office.
“Public employees are entrusted with safeguarding taxpayer dollars and making decisions solely in the public’s interest,” said District Attorney Erik Nasarenko. “The allegations in this case describe a blatant and egregious violation of that trust. When a public employee is accused of secretly steering public funds to his own spouse’s business, it undermines confidence in government and must be met with the full force of the law.”

Ventura Man Charged with Attempted Murder for Domestic Violence Attack
Ventura County District Attorney Erik Nasarenko announced today that Ignacio Rafael Anzaldo III (DOB 09/30/92), of Ventura, has been charged with multiple felonies related to a domestic violence incident. Anzaldo is charged with attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, kidnapping, assault with force likely to produce great bodily injury, corporal injury to a spouse, and two counts of criminal threats. He also faces two misdemeanor charges for destroying evidence and a special allegation of using a deadly weapon.
Anzaldo made his first court appearance on July 28, 2026, where his arraignment was continued to August 12, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. in courtroom 37 of the Ventura County Superior Court. He remains in custody with bail set at $1 million.

Ventura County District Attorney Files Civil Environmental Enforcement Action Alleging Unlawful Streambed Alteration Near Santa Paula
District Attorney Erik Nasarenko announced today that the Ventura County District Attorneyโs Office has filed a civil environmental enforcement action against Guadalupe A. Guzman, the Lupe and Carmen Guzman Revocable Family Trust, Santa Paula Hay and Grain and Ranches, LLC, and related defendants for alleged unlawful streambed alteration, diversion, grading, and pollution activities on multiple ranch properties near Wheeler Canyon Road east of Santa Paula.
โThe allegations in this case describe significant and permanent damage to Ventura Countyโs natural landscape,โ said District Attorney Nasarenko. โAccording to the complaint, waterways, streambeds, and surrounding habitats were altered in ways that may leave environmental scars for generations. Our office is committed to enforcing Californiaโs environmental protection laws, holding offenders accountable, and forcing bad actors to pay for their alleged natural resources destruction.โ

Santa Paula Man Sentenced to 22 Years in Prison for Child Molestation
Ventura County District Attorney Erik Nasarenko announced today that Leonel Galindo Galindo (DOB 03/20/89), of Santa Paula, was sentenced to 22 years in state prison for molesting two minor victims. Galindo previously pled guilty June 22, 2026, to eight counts of lewd acts upon a child and admitted the aggravating factor that he took advantage of a position of trust and confidence.
โThe defendant relied on silence and fear to shield him from accountability,โ said Senior Deputy District Attorney Emily Reber. โBut the courage of the survivors proved stronger than both. This sentence reflects their strength and the justice they fought so hard to obtain.โ

Moorpark Man Sentenced for Assault with a Deadly Weapon
Ventura County District Attorney Erik Nasarenko announced today that William Cornelis Boer (DOB 04/20/63), of Moorpark, was sentenced on July 28, 2026, to 10 years in state prison. Boer previously pled guilty on June 29, 2026, to possessing explosives and assault with a deadly weapon, with a firearm enhancement. Boer also admitted the aggravating factor that the manner in which the crime was carried out indicated planning, sophistication, and professionalism. The conviction is a strike offense under California law.

Felony Charges Filed in Complex Fraud Scam Targeting Elderly
District Attorney Erik Nasarenko announced today the filing of felony charges against Yongan Ma (DOB 10/18/81), of Rosemead, California. Ma is charged with conspiracy to commit grand theft, conspiracy to commit elder fraud, and grand theft from an elder or dependent adult for his alleged role in an elder fraud scheme against a Thousand Oaks victim.

- Unusual payment methods: Requests for gift cards, cryptocurrency, gold, wire transfers, or cash pickups.
- Isolation: Instructions not to contact your bank, family members, or law enforcement.

Yoakum Sentenced to 46 years for Human Trafficking and Domestic Violence
Ventura County District Attorney Erik Nasarenko announced that Jalen Amir Yoakum (DOB 08/07/00), of Lancaster, has been sentenced to 46 years in state prison for trafficking, exploiting, and abusing a young woman over several months. Yoakum was previously convicted by a jury on June 29, 2026, of human trafficking for sexual exploitation, pimping, pandering by encouragement, corporal injury to a cohabitant, and dissuading a witness by force or threat. Several special allegations and aggravating factors were also found true, including that Yoakum has a prior strike conviction, engaged in violent conduct, targeted a particularly vulnerable victim and involved another person in the commission of the crimes.
โThis sentence delivers justice not only for the victim, whose courage exposed the defendantโs exploitation and abuse, but also for every person harmed by his violence,โ Senior Deputy District Attorney Rikole Kelly said. โThe People are grateful to the Court for recognizing the seriousness of this conduct, the full scope of the danger the defendant has posed, and the need to protect the community from further harm.โ
