District Attorney Erik Nasarenko announced today, February 27, 2023, that Jonathan Fuentes (DOB 07/11/96), of Oxnard, was sentenced to 19 years to life in prison for the murder of Ryan Switzer.

- February 27, 2023- District Attorney Erik Nasarenko announced today that both people responsible for the death of newborn baby Diego Villa have pled guilty to murder charges. 
- February 27, 2022- Maribel Rodarte is scheduled to be sentenced on March 22, 2023, at 9:00 a.m. in courtroom 12 of the Ventura County Superior Court. Automobile insurance fraud is punishable by up to five years in county jail and a fine up to $50,000, or double the amount of fraud, whichever is greater. 
- February 24, 2023- District Attorney Erik Nasarenko announced that charges were filed today, February 24, 2023, against Jose Emanuel Posadas (DOB 10/30/01), of Santa Paula, for the death of Joe Ramirez in Ventura. - Posadas, a known gang member, is charged with one count of murder and one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm. The special allegation of having strike priors was also applied to both counts. 
- February 23, 2023- District Attorney Erik Nasarenko announced today that Lindsey Shaver (DOB 02/21/02), of Camarillo, was sentenced to probation and 90 days jail after pleading guilty to gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated. 
- February 22, 2023- District Attorney Erik Nasarenko announced that charges were filed against Brennan Paul Post (DOB 06/11/89), of Newbury Park, for the shooting death of a family member. - Post is facing one count of murder with the special allegation that he personally discharged a firearm for the shooting death of his sister, Cassidy Snow (DOB 10/22/97). 
- February 16, 2023- District Attorney Erik Nasarenko announced today that Jessica Ayala (DOB 11/10/94), of Lake Balboa, California, pled guilty to one count of insurance fraud on Thursday February 16, 2023. 
- February 9, 2023- District Attorney Erik Nasarenko announced today that two counts of first-degree murder have been filed against Tony Garcia (DOB 05/07/54), of Oxnard, for the 1981 cold case murders of Rachel Zendejas and Lisa Gondek. - Garcia made his first court appearance today, Thursday, February 9, 2023. His arraignment was continued to February 23, 2023, at 1:30 p.m. in courtroom 13 of the Ventura County Superior Court. He is currently being held in custody in the Ventura County Jail without bail. 
- February 8, 2023- The Ventura County District Attorney’s Office is reviewing a case involving the 1981 murders of Rachel Zendejas and Lisa Gondek. 
- February 2, 2023- District Attorney Erik Nasarenko announced today that on February 1, 2023, Raymond Reyes (DOB 05/29/90), of Bakersfield, was convicted by a jury of attempted murder and other crimes related to a 2021 shooting in Oxnard.
