2012 People v. Calvin Sharp

Judge finds killer who used meat cleaver sane and sentences him to multiple life terms

In August 2007, Calvin Sharp chased down, attacked, and brutally killed a 6-year-old boy, Sev’n Molina, with a meat cleaver. When Sev’n’s mother, Sandra Ruiz, tried to stop the attack, Sharp attacked her as well, causing major life-long injuries. A neighbor, Diane Cox, also attempted to intervene and suffered serious injuries at the hands of Sharp.

VENTURA, California –District Attorney Gregory D. Totten announced today that Retha Mae Drummond (DOB 3/1/56), of Moorpark, pled guilty to five felony counts of misappropriation of public funds. At the hearing, Drummond paid partial restitution in the amount of $155,810.

VENTURA, California – District Attorney Gregory D. Totten announced today that Colin Meyer (DOB 10/01/80), of Ventura, pled guilty to attempted murder and admitted to personally inflicting great bodily injury on his ex-girlfriend and using a deadly weapon during the commission of the crime.

District Attorney Gregory D. Totten announced today that Christopher Schneider (DOB 11/22/88), of Thousand Oaks, was charged with the murder of Nancy Standish-Schneider, of Thousand Oaks. The complaint charges one count of murder and a special allegation that Schneider personally used a knife during the commission of the crime.

Totten announced today that James Anthony Rojas (DOB 1/11/57), of Riverside, was found guilty of nine felony counts, including foreclosure consultant fraud, grand theft, and recording false documents by Judge David Worley following a court trial.
