VENTURA, California – District Attorney Gregory D. Totten announced today that on July 31, 2019, Oxnard resident Inez Marie Byars (DOB 5/15/1975) pled guilty to seven felony charges of grand theft, forgery, elder/dependent fraud and identity theft. Byars also admitted the aggravated white-collar crime enhancement.

District Attorney Gregory D. Totten announced today that Cheryl M. Temple has been selected to serve as the Chief Assistant District Attorney. The position is second in command in the office, overseeing 282 employees and some 20,000 criminal prosecutions a year. The appointment is effective August 19, 2019.

VENTURA, California – District Attorney Gregory D. Totten announced today the filing of a criminal complaint against Ursula Nalley Ruiz-Madrid (DOB 4/16/1989) of Oxnard. The complaint alleges 14 felony counts of grand theft and forgery arising from the defendant’s employment with two employers.

Totten announced today that David Villa (DOB 07/15/98) and Andrea Torralba Camacho (DOB 11/30/98), both of Oxnard, have been charged in Ventura County Superior Court with murder and child abuse for the killing of one-day-old Diego Villa-Toralba on July 19, 2019.

VENTURA, California –District Attorney Gregory D. Totten announced today that on July 18, 2019, Judge Bruce Young sentenced Alberto Barreto (DOB 05/23/80), of Oxnard, to 24 years in state prison for committing lewd acts upon children under 14 years old in violation of Penal Code section 288(a).
